Health Education and Health Promotion The University of Alabama (UA), Department of Health Science in Tuscaloosa, AL, is seeking health education graduate assistants at the doctoral level. UA is in an unprecedented period of exciting growth and achievement. Incoming graduate assistants will join a department with accomplished faculty members and an outstanding cadre of PhD graduate assistants. Doctoral students in the program are provided with individualized mentoring and excellent teaching. Students are also provided with strong support for travel to professional conferences and opportunities for connections with leaders in the profession. The Ph.D. program in Health Education and Health Promotion is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and experiences to become leading researchers in health education and health promotion. Many graduates of the UA doctoral program are currently serving as health education faculty members at the university level. Graduate assistantships offer an annual stipend, tuition waiver, and health insurance coverage. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis. Graduate assistants will have responsibilities related to the teaching, research and service missions of the Department of Health Science.
Candidates for admission must have completed a master’s degree from an accredited institution. In addition to grades, the following criteria will be considered: evidence of scholarship; statement of career goals; and letters of recommendation.
